A conference is being held today to recognise the hard work and sacrifices made by young carers on the Island.
Many young people have found themselves in a situation where they have to care for another person due to chronic illness, mental health problems, disability or addiction.
Crossroads Care is hosting the event - the charity offers respite and support for carers.
The conference will be marking 25 years of the service, and will also feature guest speakers who will talk about the similar situations and approaches in the UK.
Children's services officer Karen Davies says there are a surprisingly large amount of young carers on the Island:
